NYC RR MOHAWK DIVISION

The NYC RR Mohawk Division is a 55' long by (from) 10' to 30' wide HO model of the New York Central's Mohawk Division in upstate New York. The layout features a two track mainline running from the Division point at Utica in the West to the Division point at Selkirk and Albany Union Station in the east. The freight main continues east to a representation of the West Side Yards in Manhattan. Freight schedules, cars and locomotives, follow the published schedules that were in effect in the early 1950's. Control is Dynatrol and the total mainline run is about 250'. There is a 36" minimum radius on the mains. The overall schedule includes over two dozen freight and one dozen passenger trains.

Road Crew (3) Road crews operate freights to "turn-jobs" and passenger trains
TS-1 On duty at Selkirk, travels to Schenectady and West Albany to work local industries.
TS-2 Kenwood Yard to Selkirk
TS-3 Selkirk to B&M at Rotterdam Junction
West Side Manhattan - Works yard with operating limits from 130th street to St. James Park. Receives and dispatches 6 trains. Also works float bridges at 72nd street.
Utica: Cars received and dispatched to through trains as necessary. Interchange with DL&W. Also works local industries at Little Falls and Utica.
Comments:
Trains are dispatched in sequence, with the crews controlling all turnouts with either push buttons on the fascia or manual ground throws. All crews are issued a Clearance card at the start of their run which includes information on the operation of their trains. Individual 4" x 6" file cards for each car in the train are attached to the Clearance card for routing instructions, or are available en route for any cars to be worked at intermediate location. The layout is not Handicap accessible.
