Bill Jewett Award 2013 - Ron Copher
The OPSIG Board
of Directors takes great pleasure in awarding the 2013 Bill Jewett Award to Ron Copher
for his outstanding service to OPSIG and his local community.
Ron has been a modeler most of his life and has always had his
Lake Erie & Southern HO railroad operating with prototypical operations in mind.
Ron was not only instrumental in forming the River Rail Operations Group in
La Crosse, Wisconsin, but also in improving the group's layout operations
with his knowledge of prototype operations from his 41 years as an engineer on the BNSF.
His knowledge of TT&TO through modern signaling has been invaluable
to each railroad that forms the River Rail group.
Ron has also assisted other operations groups in organizing operating weekends in
Rockford, Illinois, northeastern Iowa and other areas of the Midwest.
Ron also volunteers as co-coordinator of the OPSIG Operating Events calendar
found on the OPSIG website.
With Ron's continued support of operations and introducing new people into operations
through his prototypical layout, the board is pleased to congratulate Ron for this award.
